Slob55.com is the official website of the Torture Chamber Lifting Club, Torture Chamber West, and Torture Chamber Daywalker. We are a private chain of gyms that train competitve CrossFit athletes. Fitness and a healthy life style is not or primary goal, but it is a biproduct of competitive training. Our workouts are easily scaled and can be performed in almost any gym, but our training program is not recommended for the casual trainee. We post daily workouts, or WODs (Work Out of the Day), that consist of metabolic conditioning, strength training, and aerobic endurance.  You can find a complete discription of our program philosophy and training templates on our Training Page.

For more information about the Torture Chamber Lifting club, please visit our About page, like us on Facebook, or contact us through the Hatemail page. You can also grab some Slob Gear from our store.

The New Era

Posted by slob55 under For Time, WODs

Wrecked my back last night doing snatches with bad form,so I had to sit this one out. Somebody had to finish the WOD I started though.

3 rounds
6 snatches @ 95 lbs
10 pullups
14 KB Swings @ 53lbs
18 box jumps

Cash out with 100 pushups.

Just another Monday

10 HSPU
20 squats @ 225lbs
30 pullups
40 burpees
50 box jumps @ 24″

Post times.

Took me somewhere around 20 minutes. I was a few seconds behind Strix on this one.

It’s cold outside.

For time.

9 Power Cleans @ 185lbs
90 double unders
9 wall climbs
7 power cleans @ 185lbs
70 double unders
7 wall climbs
5 power cleans @ 185lbs
50 double unders
5 wall climbs

Cash out with 50 KB swings @ 70lbs

It was hard to go fast in this WOD because of the heavier power cleans and wall climbs are just horrific. Double unders got the heart rate up and juiced up the shoulders to make wall climbs that much more miserable. Fun WOD, but could have been quicker.

Push Press 4 Jay

4 rounds for time:

16 push press @ 95lbs
14 Toes to Bar
12 Thrusters @ 95lbs
200m run

Post times to comments.

This was light and fast. I focused on going as fast as possible throughout the workout, because there was little need to stop. Felt good about the result.

Back to work.

Had a great time this weekend at the Great Lakes Invitational in Noblesville, Indiana. It was bitter sweet however, because TCLC athlete Rachel Hinton sustained a major injury during the clean and jerk ascending Grace ladder. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her speedy recovery.

The club learned some vital things about our performances personally. Most of our first time competitors realized that technique can be half of the battle in WODs with overhead and olympic liftings, while I learned that eating cookies for a month around Christmas will turn you into a fat turd no matter how much you train.

We all have weaknesses to improve and we all have room for improvement. That’s the best part about it.

Thanks to everyone who participated and everyone who came out to support.

Super sore, but time to do work.

20 deadlifts @ 275
20 HSPU
20 box jumps @ 24″
20 Chest to Bar Pullups
20 OHS @ 135
20 pushups (HR)
Post times

PM session at the Chamber

3 rounds with complete rest between each round.

5 muscle ups
20 wall balls
50 double unders

I rested about 2-3 minutes between each round to get my wind completely back, then I went as fast as possible (attempting to go unbroken). I got 2 rounds of muscle ups unbroken, which is pretty exciting.

Catching up…

Been busy getting ready for Indy, running an off-season  program for our football team, and starting a screen printing business. No rest for the weary.

Monday

5 rounds
5 HSPU
10 front squats @ 135lbs
200m run

No clue what my time was.

Tuesday

21-15-9
Thrusters @ 95lbs
GHD situps
KB Swing @ 70lbs

Forgot my time.

Wednesday
5 deadlifts @ 315lbs
10 burpees
20 double unders

8’03″

2 days of rest before the Indy competition. Should be a great time. Regional finalists Nick Urankar, Dave Stowe, Nick Fory, and Dave Ulmer will all be there. It’s cool to see the freaks go to work. I’m sure their will be one or two dark horses that I don’t about as well. TCLC members Darrel Strickler, Sam Young, and Rachel Hinton will be coming along as well. It’s going to be a blast.

5 rounds
6 hang cleans @ 135lbs
10 box jumps @ 24″

The first part of this workout was a WOD in itself. 135 lbs thrusters will put a nice patch of hair on your chest after one round.
Brutal.

Only 8 or 9 days until the comp in Indy. I weighed in at 119 today (5 pounds over weight), but I’m not too worried about it. My strength feels good and technique feels better. My metcon could be up a little bit, but I’m happy where I’m at in regards to the open starting in about 50 days. CrossFit season is upon us and of course I’m as busy as ever. It’s a good feeling to have plenty of things to do though.

Had a good Christmas Break, but gained a little too much weight. With less than 2 weeks left before the competition in Indy, I’ve got some fat cutting to do. I’d like to compete under 215, but I’m about 221 now. Regardless, I’m pretty excited about competing again.
